Prop 39

Proposition 39

In November of 2012, California voters approved Prop 39 which changed the corporate income tax code. For five years, the projected tax revenue is allocated to California K-12 schools and community colleges to implement energy efficiency measures (EEMs) in their facilities.

TTUSD and Sierra Expeditionary Learning School (SELS) have received $892,996 to date, and an expected $150,000 in November 2017 for the 2017 final allocation. The district has leveraged this funding by seeking free ASHRAE Level I Audits from the California Conservation Corps for all facilities. TTUSD also applied for California Energy Commission (CEC) "Bright Schools Program" grants to perform more detailed energy reports and recommendations on our largest facilities.

In August of 2016, TTUSD received approval from the CEC for its first expenditure plans and our staff is working to complete this project list by September of 2017.

Next step:  Submit a second expenditure plan for fall of 2017.
