Mental Health Specialist
What is the role of the Mental Health Specialist?
The school Mental Health Specialist (LCSW, ASW, MFT, AMFT) provides direct and indirect mental health support to students experiencing social, emotional and/or behavioral problems that interfere with their performance in school. We provide behavioral and emotional counseling to individual students in the settings of short-term therapy, groups, crisis intervention services, student case management and family support services, as needed. The Mental Health Specialist facilitates communication between students and their families, schools and community agencies and providers.

My name is Anna Patterson and I am proud to work as a Mental Health Specialist at Tahoe Lake Elementary. I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) and hold a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology. I am currently working toward full licensure as a therapist and am supervised by Chelsea Roth, LCSW.
I combine expressive arts and play with traditional therapeutic approaches to support students’ emotional and behavioral health. I meet with students individually and also work closely with families to help facilitate connection with community resources.
I live in Kings Beach and love all that Tahoe has to offer, especially skiing, hiking and spending time at the lake!
